GALILEO Validating Carrier Logic in Apollo® and Galileo®

09.12.2009

The terms “Validating Carrier” and “Plating Carrier” are often used synonymously within the industry. For the purpose of this document, the term “Validating Carrier” will be used to describe the carrier that will be identified as the validating or plating carrier in the new process covered by this advisory. The term “Plating Carrier” will be used to describe the carrier that is identified as the validating or plating carrier in existing Galileo 360 Fares Default Plating Carrier functionality.

Currently, Galileo 360 Fares only identifies the Plating Carrier in a fare quote/Best Buy/shopping transaction when the agency has Default Plating Carrier Logic activated (Plat=Y on the AAT Table) or when the Plating Carrier is appended to the fare quote request (CXX).

Note: A Plating Carrier is also currently identified on Apollo when a fare quote is stored with a T:$B entry.

With this change, when a Plating Carrier is not specified by the user, or when the agency does not have Default Plating Carrier Logic activated, a Validating Carrier will be identified for every fare quote/Best Buy/shopping based on the geographic criteria shown below in the detail section. This applies to terminal emulation, Viewpoint, and XML/Web Services transactions.   For more information, see Product Advisory
