Galileo - Effective now: Change to Fare Guarantee Expiry Period for Lufthansa (LH) and Germanwings (4U)

Reason For Issue version 04: Clarification of Fare Guarantee

Currently, Galileo applies the 7-day Fare Guarantee for applicable fare quotations within IATA Europe.

This enhancement will amend the Galileo 7-day Fare Guarantee to 23:59 hours on day of quotation for Lufthansa (LH) and Germanwings (4U) fare quotes, all markets, all points of sale, where LH/4U are the plating carriers, either by customer override, or through Default Plating carrier logic. All LH and 4U ‘G’ and ‘A’ status fares including preferred, non-preferred, instant purchase and those with advance reservation/ticketing restrictions, transmitting IATA FCMI ’0’, will be changed to status ‘X’ if not ticketed by the guarantee expiry date. This new logic reflects both Lufthansa and Germanwings fare guarantee policy.

As per current Galileo logic, PNR creation date is displayed as the GMT date. Fare quote time limit will be determined based upon the point of sale location, but will display in GMT. LH/4U fare quotes that expire at 23:59 on day of quotation will have to be repriced at current fares.

Due to the "static" nature of a 1G Filed Fare, if the 7-day guarantee was in place when the fare was filed, it would remain in place until the Filed Fare expired or was ticketed. This change will impact only ‘newly’ priced PNRs after development is loaded and activated.

Galileo defined European countries include, Andorra, Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Belarus, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Algeria, Estonia, Spain, Finland, United Kingdom, Georgia, French Guiana, Gibraltar, Guadeloupe, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Morocco, Monaco, Moldova, Montenegro, Macedonia, Martinique, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion, Romania, Serbia, Russian Federation, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovak Republic, San Marino, Turkey, Ukraine.

For subscribers outside these European countries, there is no extended Galileo fare guarantee (of up to 7 days). This enhancement will ensure that all Galileo countries will provide the same pricing logic of 23:59 hours on the day of quotation for Lufthansa (LH) restricted/unrestricted fare quotes, all markets, all points of sale, in all Galileo countries, where LH is the plating carrier, either by customer override or through default plating carrier logic. These countries that currently obtain a fare status indicator of ‘N’ after 23:59 on day of quotation will now receive a fare status indicator of ‘X’ as per the examples below.
