Worldspan - Single Pricing: Confirmed load dates! Flat Amount Discounts to be Prorated

03.11.2011

Overview PA 1210 - version 02

Issue History: Version 01 – Issued 13-Jul-11
Reason For Issuing version 02: Confirmed load dates

Custom discount pricing modifiers allow a user to discount a fare by either a percentage or a flat amount. There is no change to how the discount will be calculated and displayed when a percentage discount is applied. The method of discount calculation when a flat amount discount modifier is used in a fare quote entry will change:

  • Current Functionality: The total flat amount is divided equally across all of the fare components on the entire itinerary (or on a specified multi-fare component Pricing Unit within the itinerary). The resulting amounts for each fare component are displayed in the linear fare calculation section of the fare quote.
  • New Functionality: The total flat amount will be prorated and proportionately applied to each fare component. The resulting amounts for each fare component will be displayed in the linear fare calculation section of the fare quote.
The new flat amount discount process will be applied to both domestic and international itineraries. The example is shown in terminal emulation. The same logic will apply for all access platforms and all pricing and shopping entries.

Customer Benefits
  • The proportionate value of each fare component will more closely reflect the true value of each fare component when a flat amount discount is applied to the entire itinerary or to a multiple fare component Pricing Unit within the itinerary.
  • The user will no longer receive an error response when the flat amount discount divided evenly
across the fare components exceeds the value of any of the fare components in the pricing solution.
