Worldspan - Single Pricing: Confirmed load dates! One Way Fares in North American Fare Display

04.11.2011

Overview PA 1216 - version 02

Issue History: Version 01 – Issued 13-Jul-11
Reason For Issuing version 02: Confirmed load dates

All ATPCO/SITA fares are filed with one of three “tags”:

  • Tag 1: a fare that is published as one way, but may be combined on a half round trip basis with itself or other fares that allow combination.
  • Tag 2: a fare that may only be used for round trip itineraries.
  • Tag 3: a fare that may only be used for one way itineraries, i.e. it may not be combined on a half round trip basis with itself or other fares. Tag 3 is applied to domestic fares outside of US/Canada and international fares only.
When the round trip option (.RT) is specified in a North American fare display request, Worldspan currently returns only Tag 2 fares.

In international markets, Worldspan returns Tag1 and Tag 2 fares, but the Tag 1 fares are shown as one way (i.e. no round trip indicator is displayed). This will not change.

With this enhancement, Tag 1 fares will be returned for North American markets when the round trip option is specified in a fare display request. As with international fares, they will be displayed with no round trip indicator shown.

Use of the one way option (.OW) will not be impacted. Fare Display requests with the one way option will continue to return one way fares only.

Tag 3 fares will not be impacted. They will continue to be returned in international markets when either the one way option or neither one way or round trip is specified in the Fare Display request.

Customer Benefit

Round trip Fare Display requests will potentially return more fares since many airline vendors are filing only one way (Tag 1) fares in North American markets.
