09.11.2011

Overview PA 1231 - version 02

Issue History: Version 01 - Issued 13-Jul-11
Reason For Issuing version 02: Confirmed load dates

Currently, when pricing an itinerary with the Tax Exempt modifier (4P-E) or the Base Fare Only modifier (4P-B), the following tax codes are never eliminated:

AY - U.S. PASSENGER SECURITY FEE
YC - U.S. CUSTOMS FEE
XY - IMMIGRATION AND NATURALIZATION SERVICE FEE
XA - U.S. ANIMAL AND PLANT INSPECTION SERVICE FEE
XF - U.S. PASSENGER FACILITY CHARGES
GB - U.K. AIR PASSENGER DUTY FEE
YO - U.K. ISLE OF MAN PASSENGER DUTY FEE

With the implementation of this new functionality, any and all tax codes will now be eligible to be exempt or eliminated from the fare quote when the Tax Exempt and Base Fare Only agent assisted fare quote modifiers are used with a 4P or 4PLF entry.

If the user wishes to exempt or eliminate only certain taxes from the fare quote, the existing “Withhold Tax” modifier can be used. When the Withhold Tax (WT) or Withhold all taxes for a specific country (WC) formats are used, the word “exempt” along with each tax code, will be displayed in the XT portion of the fare quote linear as well as the Tax Line of the fare quote.

Customer Benefit

  • Customers will have the ability to exempt all taxes from a fare quote
  • A User will be able to tell from the fare quote response those taxes that have been individually withheld by the user with an input.
